Kadri Hill Park in MangaloreOne of the biggest parks in Mangaluru, Kadri Hill Park, is one of the most popular destinations of all tourists in Mangalore. It’s a great hit, especially among the tiny – toddlers. It is located four kilometers, in the East direction, away from the Hampankatta. It is located adjacent to the National Highway -17 and thus attracts a lot of traffic.
Things to do in Kadri ParkA wide variety of flora and faunas can be spotted in the park. Some of the animals include deers, antelopes, spotted deer, anteaters, sambar, monkeys and jackals. The park also is a home to many beautiful and big crocodiles. A special area is dedicated to this big creature. Thus, it’s a treat to all the wildlife photographers.
The animals though not trained are harmless. Moreover, photographing them from a relatively closer distance is easy enough. So you can get clicked with your favorite animal and show – off on social media. Kidding!
It’s a sort of mini zoo wherein you will find rare species of birds as well dangerous reptiles. To preserve the precious flora and fauna, the park came under the Department of Horticulture recently. The park is a great vacation spot for children. Many facilities like a toy train and various small rides are made available for children. The rides cost less and are very safe. This one thing, safety, has been taken care of quite well in this park. The government authorities have made sure that all the swings are regular checked for any sort of damages. The fire extinguishers are present. Two security guards are always there at the gate. The park is kept dog free and is regularly sprayed with pesticides to keep off the mosquitoes and flies.
The park is also a home to many superstitions imbibed by the local masses. According to the local population, the park has eight tanks. The water in each tank is so pure that it cures skin diseases. Recently, various organizations and research groups, especially from Germany landed in this place just to delve deeper into the issue. Various samples of the water at different temperatures were taken and tested at the labs. Not much conclusions and inferences have been drawn. But this “belief” has attracted a lot of tourists to this otherwise mellow park.
